The Dread Chronicles
Level one in your first class is free. All other class levels must be bought with Experience. The Dread Chronicles does not use a traditional multi-classing system. Instead, you may level any number of classes up to level six. Each class beyond the first comes at a higher cost and many classes have other requirements to learn. Upon gaining a second class, several things are determined differently than a traditional system.
- Hit Points: Your Hit Dice is equal to your highest class level. You may, however, use the highest HD from any class you have learned up to the level of that class. (For example, a 5th level wizard decides to take a level of fighter. His previous HD were 5d6. His new HD would be 4d6 + 1d10. He still only has 5 HD, however he may use d10's up to his fighter level.)
- Base Attack Bonus: A character with multiple classes will use the highest BAB from any class they have learned. (For example, a 6th level wizard has a BAB of 3. If the wizard begins taking levels of fighter, their BAB will increase to 4 at level 4 fighter.)
- Base Saving Throws: Characters may use the highest base saving throw for each saving throw type from any of their classes.
- Skills: Characters gain half of the listed skill points for each class they purchase (Rogues get 4, Fighter/Wizard/Cleric gets 1, Ranger gets 3, etc.) This system does not grant bonus skill points for a high intelligence, however more skill points may be purchased for Experience and their cost is based on Intelligence.
